Rooted in Maliku’s rich heritage—its language, customs, seafaring traditions, craftsmanship, folklore, leadership and social harmony—this platform celebrates the extraordinary abilities, contributions and values of our elders.
Their lives were guided by respect, unity, discipline, hard work, knowledge and kindness. They were not only masters of their crafts and traditions, but also individuals of exceptional character who nurtured a society built upon mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
Through Maliku Legends, we seek to preserve their stories, achievements, cultural wisdom and life lessons so that present and future generations may know that such inspiring personalities once walked this island, shaping our community with integrity and grace.

Ibrahim Yusuf Manikfan Boduganduvaru
Boduganduvaru Befaanun devoted himself to spreading Islamic knowledge in Maliku. He established a Bada school and a Bada mosque and played a major role in the formation and development of Bada Village in Maliku.
Sheikh Malingey Hussain Didi (رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ)
One of the most influential religious scholars in Maliku’s history, remembered for his Islamic teaching, reform, Dhivehi Qur’an scholarship and enduring contribution to religious understanding and unity.
Ali Manikfan
Padma Shri awardee, marine researcher and self-taught scholar, renowned for his knowledge of languages, astronomy, traditional navigation and the natural world, and for his remarkable contributions to Maliku.
Janab M. Ali Ismail Umeri
Revered scholar, national award-winning teacher and poet who dedicated his life to faith, education and the preservation of Mahl heritage.
Haji Hussain Malim
Traditional navigator whose knowledge of winds, stars and the sea guided generations of Maliku seafarers.
Dr. G. Mohammad Hussain
Skilled physician and surgeon remembered for courageous epidemic service and lifelong dedication to Maliku.
Sampagothi Hassan Kaka
Reef pilot, master carpenter and guardian of Maliku’s maritime traditions.
B.G. Ibrahim (Boduvaubebe)
A proud son of Maliku who served in the Indian Army for 18 years, B.G. Ibrahim—affectionately known as Boduvaubebe—served in the EME Corps and participated in the 1965 Indo-Pak conflict and the 1971 war. Remembered also for his discipline, courage and remarkable sporting ability, his life reflects a distinguished tradition of service to the nation.
